Classes We Offer

Combination

Ballet

A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. It is a poised style of dance that incorporates the foundational techniques for many other dance forms.

A class dedicated to strengthening the ankles, feet, knees, and legs for pointe work. It takes considerable strength and coordination to dance “en pointe”, therefore, students must be at least eleven or twelve years old before beginning pointe work.

Pre-Pointe

A part of classical ballet technique, made possible by specially reinforced shoes called pointe shoes. A technique developed from the desire for dancers to appear weightless and has evolved to enable dancers to dance on the tips of their toes for extended periods of time.

Pointe

A dance in which the rhythm or music is created by the clicking of taps attached to the toes and heels of the dancer's shoes.

Tap

Any of various dances characterized by the use of improvisation and influenced by rhythms and techniques of jazz music. Jazz technique is strongly influenced by ballet technique and focuses on center control to execute strong movements like leaps and turns.

Jazz

Refers to mainly street dance styles, primarily danced to hip hop music. Hip hop dancing is evolving in many different directions today, heavily influenced by the evolution of hip hop music and its popularity in media.

Hip Hop

A stylized combination of ballet, jazz, and modern, it uses motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music.

Lyrical

Acro For Dancers
